I'm considering the purchase of dSLR and it will probably come as no surprise that the final 2 contenders are the Nikon D70 and the Rebel XT.

For me, one of the biggest negatives about the Rebel XT is the lack of spot meter as I use the spot meter mode on my current camera (Olympus 765 UZ) a lot.

I was wondering if the Partial meter mode could be used effectively as a spot meter by zooming in on the area of the frame that you want to "spot" fixing the AEL, zooming out and reframing?

The lack of spot meter and the extremely small size of the rebel are the 2 biggest disadvantages for me.

Lack of ISO 100 is one of the biggest negatives for the D70.
