I've recently got my first D-SLR - the 350D, I'm new to SLRs so the entire experience is a (very enjoyable!) learning curve for me.

This morning I've been playing about shooting RAWs though I've stumbled across a small problem - I can't find my RAW images on the memory card! Are they stored in a different location to the JPGs? Browsing the directories in Windows Explorer I can't see any .CR2 files even though they appear in the ZoomBrowser import window.

Also, I've tried updating the Canon software supplied on the CD with the latest versions available on their website however if I update the CaptureWindow software it no longer seems to work - it just doesn't load up when I connect the camera and selecting Aquire in ZoomBrowser doesn't open up the capture window either All other software seems to update fine.

To fix the problem I had to uninstall all the updates and re-install the original software back off the CDs and then run the updates but tell it to skip the CameraWindow update - strange! Not a huge deal but just wondering if anyone has ever come across this problem?

I'd appreciate any advice!

Many thanks!

Try using a card reader to transfer the files instead of connecting the camera to your PC and it should solve your problem.

Switch the camera communication mode to PTP and then all your files will be available to browse from within Windows Explorer.
