Just a bit of fun.

The rules:
1. You must have a realistic prospect of actually buying it in the next 12 months. So no $10,000 lenses or cameras if that's not in your price range.
2. Try to put them in order of what you are likely to buy.
3. You can also put down what you might sell if you buy new stuff.

So here's my list...

To Buy:

1. Epson R2400. Looking for A3+ printer with great B&W. *
2. Monitor calibrator.
3. Upgrade Photoshop CS to CS2.
4. EF 24-105 f4 L IS. **
5. Canon EOS 5D or 20D replacement. ***

To Sell:
1. Epson R800.
4. If I get this I will probably sell the 17-85 and 18-55 (in the cupboard).
5. I don't feel a desperate need for a new body, but the 5D is very tempting and I might get it in a kit with the 24-105. If I get a new body I'll sell the 20D. If I get the 5D I'll sell my 28mm f1.8. If I do get the 5D it will probably be near the end of the year - I will have had the 20D for 2 years in October, that seems to be a reasonable run which will still leave some 2nd hand value in the camera.

Well, I spent a lot of money already in 2005;So for 2006:- Maybe an ultrawide zoom in the 10-20mm range for my 20D.*- Plan to create a 16x20 print of one photo and frame it (must be an ultra good photo to warrant such an enlargement)*- Maybe a fast 300mm prime, or a fast 85mm prime.I'll be keeping my 20D well into 2006 and probably 2007 as well.*

A used 35-350L for use at work next year, super range, above decent optics. I'll also be taking a hard look at the 20Ds replacement.

I got the 5D this year so the only thing I need are two or three prime lenses. One thing's for sure is that if you get the 5D, you'll probablyhang on to your 28 mm 1.8.One of the local chains (Calumet)in the Chicago area has sold out of nearly everyprime except the longer L series lenses. I think it's due to the 5D folk. The store sold 175 5Ds the first day it shipped. I wonder if Canon will resupply most of the soldout primes since some were introduced as early as 1988 as part of the original EOS line.

I'd like to get the Canon:85 mm 1.8, 100 mm 2.8 macro, and the 24 mm 2.8 primes. If I don't lose my job, I'll get one of these for sure. I'll try to sell my 10D and 24 - 85 zoom. If I do, I'll get the Canon 17 - 40 F4 L. I have the older version of the Sigma 17 - 35 mm EX which I'd also sell. Since I do quite a bit of professional work on the side, I'll keep my 20D.

Happy New Year and keep shooting!!!!

I'll be seriously looking for a camera with built-in IS! :-)

-> My current gears do everything I need already - going longer than 500mm on lens with IS seems to be a very expensive hobby, while IS does not come in super wide where it benefits the most (for me anyway)...

To buy:
1 - Canon 180 f3.5 macro. Or maybe the sigma.
2 - Gitzo 1548 tripod & new Wimberley head
3 - 1D-MkII N's replacement
4 - Maybe a new computer. I'm waiting for the next itteration of dual-core first.

I don't really expect #3 to be out this year. I can dream... and I'd almost certainly buy it in an instant.

Nothing. I really like my gear.

1. 500 f4 IS if I can hand hold it for while.

2. 20 replacement if it has better AF, otherwise old 1dMK2.

3. 1 might require that I buy 1325 and sidekick.

What I will be looking for in 2006:

1) Canon Rebel XT

2) 19" LCD Monitor

3) New Computer 1gb memory, 180 gb hard drive, built in card reader

Over the lost two years I have relpaced all my film cameras with digital equipment so I do not plan to sell anything right now.

i picked up the 28 1.8 for christmas and so far really am enjoying this lens..

next up:

Canon 85 1.8.

macro lens (sigma 150 perhaps)

a new bag of some kind, havent decided yet.

i would love a 13x19 printer with the epson 2400 being my dream, but not sure if i can justify that this year or not.

Well like Terry, I spent a lot in 2005 also, but hey it's only money. The list for 06 may not be quite as much, but still a lot.

To buy:

1. 16-35mm f/2.8L

2. TS-E 24mm f/3.5L (trying to talk my boss into buying this one for me as I do some workformy company.

3. also a wide printer either the R1800 or the R2400.

4. would liketo upgrade to either a 5D orMark II n, but that may have to wait till 07.

1. Sigma 17-35mm EX

3. epson R800

4. if I get a new camera I would sell my 300d and keep my 20d asmy back up.Or possible have my 300d modified for infrared, but thats another $500 to have that done.
