Default Canon lenses designed for 10D use only!

I am thinking about getting a Canon 10D but I hate to invest in 35mm glass. I would much rather buy lenses designed for digital use. Do you think Canon will design lenses for digital use only? Would it be possible for Canon to design smaller lenses for the 10D to eliminate the 1.6x crop?

If they did, they'd probably only do it to make up for the loss at the wide/short end. This is exactly what Nikon is doing, and it makes sense (at least to me.) So I wouldn't be surprised if they did it as well.

If you really want the long end, you probably want as much telephoto as possible, so the 1.6x is a blessing not a curse. They won't do anything there.
