Hey guys,

I've seen a lot of threads about what type of lens to buy, which brand, price, etc. Yet I almost never see a Tokina lens mentioned. Has anybody got an opinion of Tokina lenses? The 80-400mmwould be tempting if I was in the market for a new lens right now. I am seriously thinking of replacing my kit lens with a new 17-50?? f/2.8 zoom. Tokina has one as does Sigma. Really just wondering why no one talks about Tokina Lenses.

Tokina makes excellent lens even though I don't have any in the Canon mount - All the one I bought before are always made of metal and very carefully finished with colored engraving instead of just being stamped on like on others. None of this polycarbonate stuff...

Their zooms are always parafocal in design meaning their focus do not change when the focal lenght is changed - They just don't make as many lenses so they are not very popular that's all

-> They also tend to be last so when their lenses come out (even though better) most folks already bought a similar Sigma or Tamron if not Canon already
