Default Help: My lens won't focus

I hope it is something simple. My lens stopped focusing. (Canon kit lens, 18-55) It was working this afternoon, now will not focus. I tried manual focus also. My other 2 lens will focus, so must not be my camera? I know its not supposed to be the best lens in the world, but is the one I use most of the 3 lens that I have.

when you look at lcd, does it say AF or MF. If it saids MF, I would play with the switch AF switch on the lens to see if toggling back and forth a few time clears the problem.

hmm, try toggling the switch, something might not be making good contact. that is all I can think of. If not, how old is the lens, if is is under a year. Send it to canon with the receipt, and they should have it fix for you pretty quickly.

with only the 18-55 or with all your lenses. It it is all the lenses, the body might need to be sent out for repair.

No just the 18-55, and I think I have had it under a year, will have to check on that.

call them to set up a service tag. Canon at the newport news facility is pretty quick. They had my t1i fixed in under a week when it needed a small repair.
