Default Canon 28-135 vs Canon 18-135 help, or something else

I use to have a 28-135, and sold it. I am looking into getting this range for general trip lens. I know the 18-135 is newer, is one better than the other, or is there another suggestion in this price range. I have a Tamron 17-50 and Canon 70-200 L f/4, but some times I just want to take one,,,shooting with a 50D...

Would appreciate some input, thanks

the 28-135 is the faster focusing lens with the USM I shoot outdoor action with it from time to time. And it a bit better optically. The 18-135 is a okay lens. But it has a better wide angle for crop bodies.
Super Frequent Flyer, no joke. Ex Patriot and loving it.

since you have 2 nice zooms for when you want to get serious. and just want something for convenience you may consider a superzoom like the tamron 18-270 or sigma 18-250 or canon 18-200
