Default Oh dear I think I have figured it out (version 32343)

I found a guy who is going to sell me a 80-200 canon zoom lens with a UV haze for 75 bucks shipped.... no, it doesnt scream "QUALITY!", but I can aford that, the 50mm 1.8, and a battery grip (I already have an extra battery). Then, if I feel like i want to upgrade later (which im sure I might), then I can sell the 200 and buy an L or something of the sort. Ta da

What's the fstop on that lens? Canon makes some good 80-200 (of course, at $75, then it would be a complete steal.) You might want to ask if it comes with a lens hood. Not that it has to have one, but if he has one you'll certainly want it. It will cut down on lens flare (also also protect the lens some.)

If you need to save money, you could pass on the battery grip. It does let you take more pictures, but I can take 200 pictures without changing batteries (probably more, 200 is conservative.) Getting a second battery is a great idea, but the grip isn't truly necessary. It does offer you a portrate mode shutter button, which can be handy (of course, the normal one works in portrate, this is just easier to reach.)
