I want the zoom, but will this be enough light?

Actually, at full zoom it's f/5.6, not f/4.

I own the 20D and this lens. I found the f/4 at wide angle to be sufficient for most purposes, especially considering that the 20D provides a very usable ISO 400 or 800 and even 1600 or 3200 for difficult situations.

However, I do admit that I'd love to have a lens in that FL range that is f/2.8 since that would then be able to utilize the 20D's high precision AF mode.
