:? I am contemplating a prime lense for my 20D such as the 50 1.4 for low light shooting and landscape and perhaps family portrait. Have seen good reviews althought the 1.8 seems very close.

My apple cart got upset when I saw the 35 F2 which may be an even slightly better lense except for portrait work.

I presently have the 17x85 EFS kit lense but it is F4 and I thought the faster lense would be better around the camp fire, in landscape shadows, anr even perhaps architecture. Haven't tried much portrait and don't know if the 50 vs the 35 makes much diff.

Any insight you could share would be great.
