Basically, I own this lens. (Got a cracking price on it :-))

I am upgrading soon to a D60 (Currently on 35mm EOS10), and know it will have an effective 800mm, which is aboutthe Focal length I'm looking for. I've read reviews on this lens however, which say it is soft at the 500mm end. Am I going to notice this? Not seen it yet, but I've yet to blow anything up beyond 7x5.

If it is appreciably soft, is there anything about this Focal length that I should look at PX'ing this lens for? Possibly Sigma's 50-500?

Any help appreciated,

*Edited for stupid Typo's and clarifaction*
