Hi! I've read other discussions and couldn't come to a conclusion on a macro for the 20D. Looks like there are 3 choices:

Canon 100mm f/2.8

Tamron 90mm SP DI f/2.8

Sigma 105mm EX DG f/2.8

The Canon has the worst warranty, doesn't come with a lens hood, and is not specifically for digital, but is it the best of the three? Picture quality is number 1.

Thanks,

Henry

You tell me which one is sharper:

Canon: or Sigma: ?

The blue MTFs are when the lens is closed down - Compare black lines vs red/green -> ie the Sigma is as good wide open as the Canon closed down to f/8... Imagine what the Sigma is like when it's also closed down to f/8

and here's some proofs: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...m_id=11&page=1

The Tamron is also most excellent...
BTW there's nothing such as a bad macro lens

I strongly second NHL's recommendation of the Sigma 105 macro... that lens is amazing!

Thanks for your replies. The Sigma is also about $100 less than the other two. Henry
