Are you saying there is a limit to how much specialized equipment you are willing to buy for a freebee wedding gig? That was certainly my position. If I got a paid engagement, that would be a different story. I already owned the 17-85 and 28-135, so the solution to low light was simple: Flash 'em.

No, I am not buying any of this for a wedding. I was planning on getting a new lens for Christmas anyway. My plan was to get the 10-22 first and then I was going to either get the 17-40 or 17-85. if I wanted something just for weddings, I would have went with a 2.8 lens, but I felt I would get more use out of the 17-85 I purchased.
