I've done some research on dslrs and I know a ton, but I'd like to know first hand which some of you guys prefer. I 've heard from the local camera store that the Canon 30D is made for sports photographers where as the Nikon is marketed more towards portrait photographers. At the moment I have no bias towards either camera and I have no equipment

I would have thought the D70s and more especially the D80 would be worth considering before D200, just out of economy. Not that the D200 isnt a good deal.

I agree about the sport photography thing, just because Canon has a high frame rate. But the flash sync is lower, remember when we used to stop action with flash ? Also the menus on Nikon are a whole lot brighter, with more logical shortcuts
