If you are thinking of getting a wide angle 28mm pocket digicam, take a look at my 28mm Digicam Shootout. I compare the following cameras:

Canon SD800IS
Canon SD700IS
Panasonic FX-01
Ricoh R5

These sort of real-world tests are great, but keep in mind that the outdoor shots over the ISO range of the garbage bins are hardly fair comparisons of camera performance.

Two shots are on an overcast day with limited contrast range making it easy for the camera to put the yellow label in the midrange of exposure.

Two shots are in direct sunlight with enormous contrast - the top of the fitting on the right side of the blue bin has blown highlight and the front of the green bin has been forced to a lower exposure.

Still deciding - SD800IS, Ricoh G5, Pana LX2
