I just heard of these batteries and guessing that someone on this forum is using them in a Canon camera. Are they as good as advertised? Any brand better than another,.....or is Eneloop the brand name? Any special charger that's better than the others? Any downside to these batteries?

They sound too good to be true.

Based on reports of others, Eneloopes areas good as they sound (I have not gotten any yet). "Eneloop" refers to the type of battery which is made by Sanyo. I don't think there are any other manufacturers. Only downside that I know of is less capacity than some NiMH's (2000 MAh Eneloop vs. 2700 MAh NiMH), but it seems like the low self-discharge is worth the trade-off.

Check out the "Batteries or Power Packs" forum and do a search for eneloop ... there have been several posts regarding the batteries and chargers, with comments from those who are a lot more knowledgeable than I.

For detailed experience on Sanyo eneloops, see http://www.epinions.com/content_309637189252. They indeed do work!
