Canon S3 takes terrific sharp movies in MVI format. Does anyone know how I can transfrer this to a DVD and watch it on my TV ?

The S3 like all other Canons uses the Avi container with the MJPEG container. There is no MVI format. Canon only uses "MVI" as a prefix for the movie file names.
Using Virtualdub and XviD the Canon videos can be easily converted to the DivX format. Nowadays every new DVD player can play DivX videos. You only need to burn them on a data DVD or CD and in sert them into the player.
