Default A70: USB write speed

I have an A70 and I'm happy sor far with it.

Just wondering, if anyone has observed the same quite slow download speed when transfering pics from camera to PC. It's about 20 MBytes in 60 seconds!

I use a 256 MByte Extrememory CF card, that seems to work well and not too slow in camera operation compared to reviews I read.

What are your 'benchmarks'?

The A70 review at imaging-resource.com says that the camera's USB port transfers files at 570 KB/sec, which means it would take roughly 40 seconds for 20 MB. The speed you're seeing isn't all that far off.

Consider buying a CF card reader. You can get one for about $20. Files will transfer faster than using you camera's USB port, and you won't need to have your camera turned on and use battery power to tranfer files.

I've got about the same speed when downloading from the A70 (about 350 KB/sec.).

Downloading with a card-reader is about 4-5 times as fast.
