Default A70 Photo Distortion Problem

I just bought an A70 and found that a lot of the photos distort the vertical axis of buildings for instance, making straight objects appear to be leaning or curved, particularly on the edges of the photos (kind of looking through a viewing hole of a front door).
Has anybody had the same problem?
I am new to digitals, so I am wondering if this is a common issue or a defect of A70 or my particular purchase.

I don't know exactally how bad your problem is but, this is something that's common in all cameras to some degree. Well, let me be more specific, in all wide angle lenses which the Canon has. When you first start the camera up it defaults to the 35mm (wide angle) positon. This is where you will experience the most barrel distortion. If you move the lens forward a little you can cut down on this effect. DCRP has an example of the barrel distorion in their review which can be found here:

It's near the bottom of the page.
Like I said, I don't know how bad your problem is but, I hope this helps.
