I realize that there have been many improvements over the years in the quality and brightness of LCD displays but I have never found one that worked for me in bright outdoor sunlight conditions.

Besides working better in bright light, it's much easier to aquire a distant target with the optical viewfinder. I've tried both many times when a bird dog is running at about 100 yards range and there is no comparison.

For the above reasons I use a Canon A710 for my outdoor videos and stills. There are other small cameras I'd probably prefer but I'll never buy another camera w/o an optical viewfinder.

I believe the G-9, A-650, A-570IS and the A-720 have optical viewfinders.

Anyone that needs reading glasses, bifocals, or has prescription polaraoid sunglasses knows the need for an optical viewfinder during daylight.

Not to mention the option of turning off the LCD to save battery life when your last set of spares is running low.
