When I turn on the camera to take photos (auto setting), the viewfinder and lcd screen has vertical lines with a pink background. I have tried different setting but they still show the same.

Has anyone else with this model camera had any problems.

I have not dropped the camera.

Hope someone can help me, thank you

That is perhaps the well known problem with faulty CCDs from Sony. Canon will exchange the sensor free of charge.

I had the same experience a month ago and went to a photo shop and the guy working there told me it was the ccd and that Canon would repair it on the life time warranty although it was more than 4 years old.

Today I was going to check up on the camera and I was told that it would be to expensive to repair it. So if I would they could offer me a S5 as a replacement.

I said "thank you very much" and now have the S5 beside me.

- The Compact Flash cards from the S1 are not working though.
- I have the 52mm adapter for the S1 from Lensmate with the UV filter and Polarizer filter. Can I use them for the S5?
- And I also have the Raynox 250 Macro filter. And I'm looking forward to use that!
The Macro function of the S5 does a quite good job as far as I have tested it today.
