Default Canon needs to make a Prosumer superzoom camera.

Is it just me, or does it seem like canon should really make a camera that can compete with the sony F717, nikon 5700 and minolta A1? The G5 and G3 are great cameras, but a bigger zoom would be awesome. I know they have the Digital Rebel, but maybe an SLR isn't the answer for everyone.

Canon used to make a big zoom camera, the Pro90IS. It's a 2.6 megapixel 37-370mm (10 X) stabilized lens camera. They got burned in the marketplace with it, aledgedly losing money on each one sold. I doubt you'll see a similar camera from Canon again.

The Pro90 is a great camera, though somewhat slow focusing and not great in low light. Olympus used the same lens in their 2100UZ (the "Uzi") which has a rabid following. Both cameras are out of production now.
