Default Problem with taking picture when using SX10 optical zoom

Hi, I encountered a problem with Canon SX10 and hope that fellow users of this camera can help. When I zoom in max on a subject in a concert, the lcd shows a picture that is quite bright. However, when I hit the shoot button to take the picture, the picture ends up dimmer. Anyone knows how to fix it? I using auto mode for my picture. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's going to be a problem. The LCD boosts the brightness beyond what the camera's sensor can obtain. In other words, the LCD BEFORE the shot is taken is not showing you a realistic exposure. If light levels are low it is extremely possible that the settings the camera chooses in auto mode are not capable of delivering a proper exposure. For example, you may need to use say ISO 1600. On that particular camera the camera may not use that high an ISO in auto mode.
