Default What to make of my communication with Canon?

I recently had this email exchange with Canon over concerns that Powershot A1100 IS and A2100 IS are being discontinued. Now I am left with the impression that Canon is discontinuing AA battery support. I feel this is a disturbing development.

Is it true that A1100 IS and A2100 IS are being discontinued?

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Canon digital cameras. We value
you as a Canon customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

The PowerShot A1100 IS and A2100 IS cameras are not being
discontinued, however they are no longer actively marketed as successor models have been released.
You may still find some units available for sale, depending on whether or not the retailer sold out of their existing stock.

Thank you for the reply. What are the successor models then.

Thank you for your reply. The most recent model cameras that have been
announced are the SD940 IS, SD980 IS, SX20 IS, SX120 IS, S90 and G11
