Default Canon S2 IS compared to SX1 IS

I have been thinking about upgrading my S2 to the new generation of ultra zooms. I've been to the camera shop twice and played around with the SX1, I can't seem to get a picture that looks as good as my S2. The pictures aren't as sharp, when zoomed in it actually shoots at a slower shutter speed as compared to my S2. I can't find any reason to buy this camera, I shoot alot of pictures outdoors, mostly scenery, closeups, animals etc and was hoping to get more performance. In low light I have to shoot at least 2 steps up in ISO to get the same shutter speed, am I missing something here?? Thankyou for any replies!
