Default My A40 mode dial is stuck!

Last night I was taking some pictures, and when I tried to change the mode to look at the pics, the dial was very stiff. After reviewing the pics, I changed back to take some more shots, and the dial was even more stiff (let's just call it stuck). Now I probably could force it to rotate, but obviously it needs to be fixed. Any idea what happened? What should I do to remedy the situation.

BTW, I've only had the camera about 9 months.
