Default Smudge on zoom pictures

I have a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS that I have been very happy with. However, about a year ago, I noticed on pictures where I have used the zoom, there is a smudge.

Does anyone know what may have caused this and if it is something that can easily be fixed? I have also been considering buying another, if it is not easily fixable.

I have a SD1300 IS that had a similar problem to yours. I had to send mine in to be fixed (under warranty)
but from my understanding it was dirt on the sensor that was causing it

I guess if your 1100 is not under warranty you could try fixing it yourself.
