Default S3IS hack and CHDK

I'm not sure what happened, but a day or two ago I got an error. I am using an 8 GB Class 10 card, CHDK worked fine before, but it won't now. I was using build 973 of CHDK. For an 8 GB card, 2 partitions is of course required. I don't know why it quit working, I really don't. But I got an error when I started up my S3IS two days ago.

Last night I downloaded build 2207, and I have tried several times to get things set up correctly. Tonight build 2211 was posted for my S3IS, so I downloaded and tried that several times as well.

This isn't working out. Windows should only see the large partition, linux should see both, and the camera should put the pictures on the larger partition.

I tried thorwalk's steps here:

but they don't work for me. When I put the CHDK-small firmware on my 8 GB card and start the camera in "playback" mode to update the firmware, it says "update file error". If I lock the SD card, the "card locked" message also appears.

Has anyone found a problem with the latest CHDK builds for this camera? Can anybody verify the steps needed to make the latest builds work?

Thanks in advance!
