Default D300 Digital Rebel

Hello,
I have an old Digital Rebel that I've not touched for a number of years. It works great until I attempt to plug it into my computer via USB. No drivers detected. No drivers available on Canon's site. The site says the driver should be in the OS. When I pulled the card, placed it in a card reader, then into the USB port, again, no driver.

Any ideas?

Also, is this a view-finder-only camera? I know...stupid question, but still the bulk of my experience is upper-level thirty-five mm cameras. (yes, I'm a cave man).

Thanks in advance.

I'm surprised you cannot view your images via the card reader/usb method- after all, a jpeg image is a jpeg image...(are you shooting in jpeg...?)
Depending on what computer system you have, drivers are still available-
I just checked here-

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/suppor...ersAndSoftware

and I could get them for XP... but not for all operating systems...

Yes,the 300D only shoots through the viewfinder...
