Default Canon A70 (80) or SONY P-12 (P-10)

I just got SONY DSC P-12 (same as P10) but I have some problem with shotter speed or something else. When I captured pictures with my kids how jumping the pictures sometimes looks good but some have bloor (shadow) and info pictures said it is 1/50 shotter speed. I think about to return it and take Canon A-70 or A-80.
Doas Canon have problem with fast moving object?

P.S. Sorry about my English...

What mode are you shooting on? The sony appears to have a shutter capable of 1/2000 of a second and a "fast shutter mode" but no way of manually selecting your shutter speed. This is where the Canon A-series excels. The A-70/75/80 is one of the few cameras in its price range that give you full manual control over the aperture and shutter, the rest are just "automatic" cameras for novices. I suggest returning your sony and getting a Canon A80. If you have a good understanding of aperture, shutter, and ISO you won't need any of those silly scene modes. You can just use P, A, T & M. Moral of the story - buy a camera made by someone who has been making cameras for decades, not an electronics giant who decided to jump on the digital camera bandwagon like everyone else. And I'm not just being biased toward Canon - I think Nikon, Fuji and Pentax make great products too but Canon always seems to be one step ahead in the game.
P.S. I think a shutter speed of 1/125 or 1/250 should do the trick.

The A80 will handle that fast shutter speed with no problem. And so will all of the G- cameras,G2-G5.This group will give more control over things than you will know what to do with.LOL.
