I am thinking about getting one of the above, im not asking a what one do you think i should get BEEN nuff of those to last a lifetime. What i am asking is as you can see above one has a assist lamp and one doesnt does this actualy make much difference in the dark as i think this would sway my decision.

I thought that the Canon had AF assist but the flash needs to be up. I could be wrong.

Default Canon no AF Assist

The Canon has no AF Assist Light. Although the 8700 does, from what I have seen in reviews, it doesn't work that good unless you get close and then it has a hard time locking in focus at times. I know a lot of cameras are moving to the new 8MP processor but from the examples I have seen, some of the 5MP cameras do a better job. Less Noise, Less Purple Fringe, Sharper Images etc.

I bought my Pro 1 a week ago. The camera can focus in low light at the wide angle end. it has more trouble at the telephoto end, I just use manual focus in that situation with a tripod.
