Default Any suggestions about what to get.

Hi you all in this forum. As my first post ill start up with a request for suggestions and comments about what camera to buy.

Ive been considering many cameras, but since i find Canon to be one of the best if not the best manufacturer ive decided to stick to them. Ive been able to narrow it down to either the G5 or the S1.

1. Ive heard about the cromatic abbreviation and the red-eye problem in the G5, but it doesnt bother me that much.

2. One thing that does bother me is that the S1 lacks a (i think this is the right translation) "hot shoe". I think that if i am to buy a camera for $550 i would want to be able to "upgrade" it further with a external flash, e.t.c. ?

3. Which one is better when considering battery life ?

4. What is the main difference between the to ?

5. Are there any aspect of the G5 that have (since realesed) become out of date ?

Right now i'm leaning towards the g5, since it seems like a better camera for a "moderate user" to grow with.

I would be happy with any suggestions or things i forgot to consider.
