Default Canon S1 IS vs Olympus C-765 UZ

I joined today after reading some of Steve's camera & photo printer reviews.

Originally, I planned to purchase an HP 7960 printer & an Olympus C-765. That all changed when I read the review on the Cano S1 IS.

I currently have an old Olympus C2100 UZ that has been absolutely wonderful. That is... after they replaced the original one with a new one when mine died 6 mos. into the service plan!

I would like to replace my camera in May & would appreciate help in finalizing my decision on Canon S1 IS vs Olympus C-765 UZ.

Right now, it looks like the S1 IS has everything I want (except 5 megapixels, but I can't afford a 5 mp right now.)

Thanks in advance for your response.

I just went through the exact same problem: Olympus C-765 or Canon S1 IS. I choose the canon, mainly because of the IS wich really helps when using full telephoto. The two cameras are very close exept olympus has the higher resolution, the canon i find to produce good quality pictures even at 3.2 mp. The AF is slightly on the slow side for action shots but there are easy ways to get aroud that.
The choice should probably come down to if ou plan on taking lots of pictures at full telephoto than take the canon, if you need big good quality pictures take the olympus
-hope that helped a bit
