The Powershot A300 is on sale for $150 with a 128 card. Should I be concerned that there is only a digital zoom and not optical? I have always read that for film cameras and camcorders, the optical is more important. Thanks.

This camera seems to be a good entry digital camera (especially for the price). Thoughts?

I would spend a little more and get an optical zoom. If you are trying to stay inexpensive the Canon A70 is being phased out and you can find it for under $200 through Amazon.

It has the same amount of pixels and gives you a 3x optical zoom.

But you would have to get the bigger CF card seperately.

A friend bought one a year ago or so... has been really happy with it.
