Well, after trying out many cameras I finally picked the new Canon S410 for my pocket camera. Reviews are GREAT and a friend had a S400 and the pics were beautiful.

The 410 has not let me down...gives you some minor control but in P mode the pics are great!! Very happy with it so far.

However, I moved the camera around alittle and heard what appeared to be a small light rattle from inside the camera housing somewhere. Since rattling usually means "something is moving" inside I'm wondering if this (in the long run) can harm the camera.

I ride motorcycles. I strap my camera case to my fanny pack and ride along all types of roads. There is some vibration to this and am concerned that this constant vibration (along with the rattle) will damage the camera.

Appreciate your replies.

I had the same question with the S400. That rattling is completely normal. It's the mechanism that tells the camera it's orientation... it's like a ball bearing or something. Nothing to worry about!
