The Canon agents installed the update in my S1 IS a couple of days ago. When I took a picture in the garden (in bright afternoon sunshine) it showed an over-bright image in the eye-level viewfinder.

Since then I've used it a few times, and changed some of the settings. This morning when I took the camera outside into the garden again, the eye-level viewfinder image looked quite normal.

But I doubt that the settings had anything to do with it. I think was more likely to have been the lighting conditions.

The update does seem to have fixed the freezing image problem, and the zoom seems a bit more manageable.
