Hi all,

I have been living with Film SLR Cameras all along.

Planning to go for my first digital.

I shortlisted on the Canon Powershot A80 or Pentax Opti S40

Both have 4 Mega Pix & 3X optical zoom.

But with common set of accessoriesthe Canon A80costs almost 100$ than the Pentax S40.Why such a difference?

Which Camera should I go for? Request inputs!

Not familiar with the Pentax, but we've had the A80 for a couple of months (also our first digicam) and are very happy with it. A few reasons:
  1. Perfect size and heft. [/*]
  2. Ergonomic and eye-pleasing design. [/*]
  3. CF memory cheap and non-proprietary. [/*]
  4. Uses AA baterries. We have 2 sets of rechargeables but, in a pinch, you could find AA non-rechargeables practically anywhere on earth. [/*]
  5. Tons of manual features (at least for amateurs or semi-pros). [/*]
  6. Rotating LCD. [/*]
  7. Ability to take add-on lenses. [/*]
  8. And finally, Canon quality (except for the crappy jiggling CF compartment door which drives me nuts sometimes).[/*]
Enjoy the new world of digital photography, whichever camera you decide to buy!
