This is not the best or simple way to use a webcam, but is possible to use the S1 IS and other models of Canon, with the aid of the software "Softcam".

1- Download and Install the software:
http://www.softcam.com (It´s a shareware, 15 days free trial)

2- Conect the camera to the PC (USB), and open the "Remote Capture" (Canon software - Zoom Browser - Remote Capture)

3- Open the Softcam software, in the options menu select "Softcam Screen Capture", then "OK".

4- In the main window of the Softcam, select "LIVE".

5- Drag the box over the image of the remote capture window. You will see the image in the preview window of the softcam.

6- The software is now emulating a webcam. Open the MSN and test.

You must stay with the three software open (Remote Capture, Softcam and MSN), but works well.

You can use this software for other Canon models A70, 75, 95 and maybe others.
