I'm getting used to my new A95 (I've used a Nikon Coolpix 885 for the past several yrs), and I'm trying to figure out the best 'general' settings.

What AutoFocus and AutoExposure settings do you advise for general shooting, in order to be prepared for the unexpected or unplanned shot? I can always adjust for unusual situations, but what about everyday use? The AiAF seems to select odd bits on which to focus, and I'm not always pleased with it's choices.

Center-weighted exposure metering and Center AF?

And what about the AF spot focus? Does this only come into play when you are moving the focusing square from its central location? The manual isn't too clear about this.
