Default Shooting Macro w/ Powershot A40

I just bought a powershot a40 the other day and love the pictures. Ive tried some macro but i dont think m going about it the right way. Whats the best process for a macro shot, i mean zoom out, zoom in, flash, im pretty new to takin closeup shots..thanks for any input.

With the A40 you can take macro with any setting of the zoom (if you read the manual or even the brochure). The only diff is that you can't get as close with the tele end of the zoom: I think it requires about 10 cm more distance but magnifies more. Don't forget to set the camera to macro at these close distances. Unfortunately the A40 doesn't get as close as most other cameras (only to 6-10 inches). To get even closer you need the additional lens adapter and a closeup lens (it looks like a filter).
