I was reluctant to sell it at first but the more pictures I took the more I realized I wasn't going to be happy with this camera - it simply failed to deliver as I had stated before. Too much purple fringing, soft pictures, overexposed shots, AIF wasn't reliable. To those of you who own this camera and are happy with it, good for you. But if you were to compare it to the older S models, namely the S400, the general consenus is that the S400 still outperforms the SD500 in terms of better picture quality.

Anyhow, I will justhold on to my S400. From what I've heard on another forum, Canon is said to release the successor to the SD500, called the SD510. This is all probably just pure speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if they release another model by the end of the year, if not early next year. I'm crossing my fingers that it will solve the problems that are prevalant with the SD500 model.
