I just ordered a S1, S2 was out of my price range.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Is there a way to macro with a S1, i understand S2 has a macromode, does S1 have one too?

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"and I hear for S1, low light shooting sucks. Some people say, switch it to C mode, and something about a hyperfocal, and it'll turn out way better....can anyone explain that in more detail.

I have yet to see a camera without macro mode, so the S1 should have one too.

The S1 does not have a focus assist lamp, so it has a lot of difficulty focusing in low light. "C" mode lets you set the shutter speed etc manually, as well as focusing manually.

Hyperfocal, I not exactly sure about it, but you should focus futher away than your subject actually is. Say you think your subject is about 3m away, focus on one or two steps behind your subject.

Congratulations, you did same as I. For 250€ including VAT the S1 is simply a steel.

The S1 has no macro mode, but you can get as close as 1 meter with the 10x tele and that's a pretty good moderate macro mode.

Yes, the S1 has no assist lamp, but whenever you can shoot without flash (and with the image stabiliser I frequently do this also indoor), then you don't need an assist lamp. For night shots I use manual focus.
