On the surface the S2 IS seems to be a great camera; but I'm beginning to have my doubts.

In service since the first week of Aug. (went up from an A95)and already the Spot AE Point doesn't work properly, and I can't see through the Viewfinder. I'm advised by Canon that you can't shut off the viewfinder, so it requires repairing. The Spot AE Point doesn't lock on the way it should, and requires repairing also.

Canon Canada service is quoting 15 - 20 days repair time, and a Canon authorized repair depot is quoting 2 - 3 weks for repairs.

I have been in touch with Canon Canada and suggested that nothing short of an over-the-counterswapwould be acceptable to me. We'll see what happens!!

Needless to say, it's going to be a long 3 weeks without a camera. In hindsight I should have hung on to my A95.

Oh well, such is life.

If it's within 30 days of purchase, I certainly hope they offer a free replacement.
