Default F717 - need experienced help (image size vs. quality)

The largest size picture I ever print is a 8x10, mostly 5x7's or 4x6's - Is there a difference in image quality from 1280x960 compared to the larger settings? I usually save my photo's in 1280x960 mode, because I can fit more on my memory stick.
1280x960 = @ 600k, compared to 2560x1920 = 2MB.

For the size prints I'm printing, is it worth bumping up a setting?
All photo's are saved in FINE mode of course.

Appreciate any advice.

Though you can get nice 8 x 10's using the lower setting there are times when you might notice some artifacts in your photos due to the lower amount of pixels per inch. I found in my time using the F707 which is the camera prior to the F717 that I was able to get sharper and clearer pictures using the highest setting. It also was nice as sometimes I found that I wanted an even larger photo later on and had a full size file to use without worry of diminished quality.
