Default Confused btw Canon powershot s200 and s230

Hi. can anyone please tell me what I should do if I'm undecided between a Canon powershot s200 and a s230. The only difference I know of is the s200 is 2 mega pix whereas the s230 is 3.0 mega pix. I was wondeirng if a $100 additional investment would be worth it or not.

Also, can anyone tell me what mega pix. is compared to a regular 35mm camera. Thanks in advance

Internals of the two cameras are very different. A friend has the S200 and is generally disappointed. I have an S230 and the photo quality BLOWS the S200 away -- it's pretty good!

To answer your question, the extra $100 is definitely worth it.

Also, no easy answer to your question about what megapix level corresponds to a regular SLR. The way to think about this is: What size photos will you want to print? A 3.2 MP camera does great 4x6's, great 5x7's, pretty good 8x10's, and that's about it. Go higher in megapixel rating and the output remains great at 8x10 and beyond.

Hope this helps.
