Default 10D vs. Rain & Water?

First of all, I am new to this board, although I have been watching for a while.
For the past several years, I have owned an Olympus 3040 and have been relatively happy with it. However, I have always missed the functionality of a SLR. So last week I went to the local camera store to buy a Nikon D100, but was told about the upcoming 10D... so I quickly reconsidered. Needless to say, I am now holding off for the 10D

I was wondering if you guys could tell me how 'weather proof' these cameras are? Can they stand up to rain? How about a little bit of ocean spray? I spend most of my life on the water, so any camera that I buy will probably get a little wet at some point.
I briefly dropped my 3040 into the ocean last year, but amazingly, it was fine! (although I wouldn’t expect ANY camera to be able to survive that)

Also, do you know if you can buy some kind of a water case for the D60 or 10D?

Thanks a lot for your help! I really appreciate any advice that you could give me!
