Almost on every review, forum, and customer comment someone says something about how their LCD is cracked. This has made me very hesitant to buy an SDXXX series or a canon camera in general.

How widespread is this problem? Also i am shocked that canon doesnt do anything about this.

I have read in other Forums and CNET that Canon now seems to have hada change of heart about replacing broken LCDs as Warrenty repairs.

I have twice dropped my SD500 where it landed on the LCD. Once on a hiking trail and once on a packed snowshoe trail. No damage at all. I wonder if most the cracking comes from flexing the screen , like if you carry it in a jeans back pocket or something.
