Default low light 9 point system question

whats the 9 point AiAF system on the s400? its not on the s30? but theres auto focus/focus asisst on the s30.

whats the 9 point system? would it be better suited to take concert pictures?

the s400 is kind of too tiny and ive never liked elph's.

which is the better camera of these two? concert / animal macro / everyday stuff?

The 9 point system tries to focus on multi subjects that may be outside the focus centre. Seems to work well in the S400 camera. It is ideal for taking scenic pictures where the subject may be off centred from the centre.

For concerts one usually is quite far from the stage, hence focus infinity should be adequate. Using zoom on the S400 is useless, as the pictures will come out dark and softened.

For taking animals, the S400 may not be most ideal, if the animal moves too fast and since there are no programmed exposures, and no manual adjustable shutter, fast moving animals may appear blurred.
