I have a Canon G3 and have started messing about with different filters and lenses. Could anyone tell me if I can use an infrared filter with this camera?

I have been reading up on this and I found that the G3 and the G5 is supposed to be pretty decent with picking up infra-red. www.lifepixel.com has a conversion you can do yourself or have them do where they take the hot mirror out and replace it with a IR filter. other wise it is long exposures for it to turn out ok. I have been practicing with a IR filter for a security light and holding it up to the lense by hand. Talk about redneck LOL.

good luck
