I have an IXUS 500 and a 2GB flash card and I would be really glad if I could record more then 30sec of video with 680x480. I'm not sure why there is a limit but is there a way to remove it?

Read this in advanced camera user guide.

The recordingtime may not display properly or filming may stop unexpectedly if following memorycards are used.

- slow recording cards

- cards formatted on a different camera or a computer

- cards which have had images recorded and erased repeatedly

If you record in 640*480 30 frames/sec is the filesize about ( 2MB/sec ).

Recording can continue until the memorycard is full, maximum 1GB at one time.
